The Order We Work In
Restoration is sequential. Jumping ahead is how a house gets rebuilt over moisture that was never removed, and that failure stays hidden for months. Every Anderson job runs the same six stages, and one does not start until the last one is measured and closed out.

The IICRC sorts water damage into three categories, and the category decides what can be dried in place and what has to leave the building. Clean water, Category 1, comes from a sanitary source: a supply line split by a hard freeze, a broken fitting at a fixture, rain through an opening in the roof. Carpet and pad frequently survive it when extraction starts quickly.
Gray water, Category 2, carries contamination without being grossly unsanitary. Washing machine discharge, dishwasher overflow, and a water heater tank that has rusted through all land here. It degrades as it sits, which is why a loss left over a weekend gets reclassified upward by the time anyone picks up the phone.
Black water, Category 3, is the one that matters most in a township with older sanitary laterals. Sewage cleanup after a backup through a basement floor drain belongs here, and so does floodwater that has run across open ground. This water carries pathogens. Keeping the Water Out in the First Place
