CCPA Privacy Notice

This notice is for California residents only, and it supplements the information provided in Roto-Rooter’s Privacy Policy (which explains the information we collect and how we use/disclose it).


Information We Collect

We may collect information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or device (”personal information”).  The table below shows which categories of personal information our website has collected from consumers in the past 12 months:

We obtain the categories of information listed above (i) from you, whether directly or indirectly from activity on our site or from other interactions with us, and/or (ii) from third parties, such as ad networks or analytics services that interact with our site.


Use of Personal Information

We use the personal information we collect from you for the following lawful business purposes:

  • To process and fulfill orders;
  • To schedule and provide our services;
  • To provide locally relevant service information or other information we believe will be of interest to you;
  • To assist with our recruitment efforts;
  • To respond to your inquiries;
  • To analyze trends, administer the Site, and track users’ movements around the Site;
  • To improve the Site and to make it more useful to visitors; and
  • To otherwise provide other services through the Site.

We will not collect additional categories of personal information or use the personal information we collected for materially different, unrelated, or incompatible purposes without providing you notice.

Disclosure of Personal Information

We may disclose your personal information to third parties for a business purpose as described below. We only make these business purpose disclosures under written contracts that describe the purposes, require the recipient to keep the personal information confidential, and prohibit using the disclosed information for any purpose except performing the contract. Otherwise, we do not sell, rent, lease, or “share” personal information, and will not disclose your personal information to third parties without your permission. The CCPA defines “sharing” as the disclosure of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Affiliates and Franchisees: Because we operate through local contractors and franchisees, we share your information with them as appropriate, such as to schedule and provide services as requested, to provide feedback, and so on. If you apply for a job through the Site, we collect that information either directly or via a third party tool and forward your application information to the contractor or franchisee that posted the job opportunity.

Service Providers and Contractors: We share your personal information with third party contractors and service providers that assist us in providing customer support, communicating with customers, and promoting our services, as well as third party contractors and service providers that provide other services to us relating to our services and/or the Site. For example, if you share credit card information for a purchase, that information is used by a third-party processor to fulfill the transaction.

In the preceding twelve (12) months, we have disclosed personal information for a business purpose to the categories of third parties indicated in the chart below.

Your Rights and Choices

The CCPA gives California residents the following rights:

Right to Access: You have the right to request a copy of the specific pieces of personal information that we have collected about you in the previous twelve (12) months. The information will be delivered by mail or electronically. Upon receipt of a Verifiable Consumer Request, we will disclose:

  • The categories of personal information we have collected about you;
  • The categories of sources from which personal information is collected;
  • Our business purpose for collecting personal information;
  • The categories of third parties with whom we share personal information, if any; and
  • The specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.

Right to Data Portability: You have the right to receive your personal information in a portable, readily usable format that allows you to transmit your information to another entity without hindrance.

Right to Correct Inaccurate Information: You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate information about you that we maintain.

Right to Deletion: You have the right request that we delete your personal information.

Right to Be Free from Discrimination: You have the right to not be discriminated against by us for exercising any of your rights under the CCPA. Unless permitted by the CCPA, we will not:

  • Deny goods or services to you;
  • Charge different prices or rates for goods or services, including through the use of discounts or other benefits or imposing penalties;
  • Provide a different level or quality of goods or services to you; or
  • Suggest that you will receive a different price or rate for goods or services or a different level or quality of goods or services.

Right to Opt Out of Sharing: You have the right to opt out of the sharing of your personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising.

    Please be aware that your rights are limited to the extent permitted by applicable law. Only you or a person duly authorized to act on your behalf may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information.  You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child.  

    You have the right to request access only twice in any 12-month period. We aim to respond to verifiable consumer requests within 45 days of receiving that request. If we require more time, we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing.
